Applications of GIS in Mapping: Geographic information systems (GIS) are used to visualize data, and one of their primary functions is mapping. The data is first visually represented in a mapped format by GIS after being stored in a database. Map is a tool used to communicate by people from many occupations. Making maps does not need being an expert cartographer. The best examples of a web-based GIS mapping solution are Google, Bing, and Yahoo maps. Urban Planning and Design: GIS technology is used to study urban growth, determine where it is expanding, and identify potential locations for more urban development.
